Educators, It's time to start the process to recognize the outstanding educators in this area. The Hurlburt Chapter, invites you to submit your top educators to compete in the our Teacher of the Year Award program. We will select outstanding teachers at the elementary, middle and high school levels; teachers who go the extra mile to inspire in their students an understanding of, and enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

One of the winners of the Hurlburt Chapter Teacher of the Year will qualify as our overall Chapter Teacher of the Year and will be nominated for the Regional/State Teacher of the Year and may qualify as an AFA National Teacher of the Year nominee. Our Chapter Teacher of the Year from 2008, Mr. Leo Murphy of Choctawhatchee High School, was nominated and selected as the AFA Florida and National Teacher of the Year. All chapter award winners, and their principals, will be honored at a dinner where the three winners will be presented a plaque, a certificate, a $250.00 grant, and a one-year AFA membership. In addition, we will select one of the three honorees as our overall Teacher of the Year - who will receive an additional $250 grant and compete for State and National recognition.
